Cleaning Sand...Help?

Due to a severe aptasia overpopulation I have broken down my 40 gallon tank and am setting it back up.

The aptasia was everywhere...on the heater, the pumps, rocks, glass, and sand.

I have rinsed all the sand in hot water. Will this effectively kill the aptasia? Should I let the sand sit? Or go ahead and add it back in.

Thanks!

Jamie

Honestly, if it was me I would just get all new sand...why take the chance? I realize that live sand isn't cheap but do you want to use your old sand, get your tank all set up to where you like it only to have another aptasia invasion take over? That being said, doesn't most aptasia come from live rock, not live sand?

If this situation happen again before it get out of control you can put some peppermint shrimp in your tank. It's worth a try.
