external pump, new sump help
I have an 80 gal reef tank that needs some improvements. I am going to start below with the sump. What i want to do is install an external pump, split the line and place two sea swirls in the front corners.
My questions are: What size pump and what brand would be best for my size tank? PLus my outtake (water going to sump) is a one one inch pipe. the return is one 1/2 pipe. The 1/2 is what I would split for the sea swirls. Is there a chance of getting too big of a pump that it drains my sump and overflows my tank before the one inch outtake could catch up? This is problem that I am trying to think through. Is there a web site that would help? Thanks, your respones are greatly needed. |

Why don't you just build a manifold? It would save you a lot of money...
That's what I did on my 120. I'm using a Reeflo Dart. You do have to be careful with your pump choice, especially since you only have 1 drain. What type of pressure and/or gph do the sea swirls need to run? |
