Tank Crashed any ideas?

OK so i hooked up a new sump which i built. I had the water filtering in the sump for a month. Hooked it up - within two days i lost over $150 dollars in fish and some xenia. What the heck happened - my water levels were fine. im completely stumped.

I used what you would use for im assuming the bathroom. Regular cocking which would work in water. No new equipment and everything is glass

Theres your problem. bathroom silicon has extra ingrediants. you may want to use pure silicon for use on aquariums.

Bathroom silicon has fungicide in it. I guess its time to tear the sump apart and start the tank over..

Do i have to replace all the water in the main tank, or do you think letting it cycle for a few weeks will help??? I realize the sump has to be completely rebuilt but what about the main tank???

I would do a big water change (some where around 40%-50%). Then i would run carbon and follow up with another 30%-20% water change in a week. Also keep the skimmering going (if you have one). Best of luck and i hope you get your tank going again.
