Yep,
The gel type works best.

Be aware that cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) may not work as well on softies, as their secreted mucous causes the glue to lose its hold. I just experienced this, myself. In that case, you may need to use a needle and thread/fishing line or a toothpick and rubberband to hold the frag down until it attaches.

does the glue work under water or does the frag need to be out of the water until it dries?

you can use it underwater. although it does take a little bit of practice to get it used to it.
Be sure you have superglue-GEL. I think it's also called cynoacrelate gel.

I've used the liquid super glue before. It works fine. You just need decent surface contact with it. That's why most people use the gel super glue, because it tends to give a better bond with things like live rock and frag plugs, as they're holey and porous.

Thanks. My local store has a glue for fragging for sale for £5. Is some company just trying to rip people off by taking normal glue and putting a picture of coral on it?

I use the cheapest that I can get. The local Dollar store has 3 pack for $1.00 of the Super glue Gel. I works just as good as the $3.00 stuff.

I prefer Loctite super glue, since it's a reputable company and I can use it for stuff other than frags, too. It was about $2 or so for the bottle I got. (It's kinda small, but has plenty in it.) 5 pounds for a tube of frag glue? Sounds like someone's trying to make money off of a common product with a special name.
Go with super glue. It'll work just fine. Just make sure it bonds sufficiently before you put it back in the tank. |
