Coral Bueaty Question
I have done some research, or have tried, and have come up empty handed. I am interested in buying a coral bueaty. I saw this fish at the local LFS, and decided I better do some research.
I have a yellow tail damsel (I KNOW...) and a cleaner shrimp along with 2 O. Clowns. Everybody seems to be in thier happy lil world. Would putting a coral bueaty in my tank destroy that nice relastionship I have going? And are they reef safe? Thanks Guys Jim |

Mine hasn't given any of my sps or lps any trouble. You may have issues with your damsel. However, given enough rock to hide in, I would think things would settle in.

Here's my experience with a CB:
I have a pair of false percs, 2 shrimps, a Sixline Wrasse, and a Coral Beauty in my custom 70g. The CB was added last (about 2 weeks ago) and after the other fish were in the tank for about 2 months. I did not have a single problem. The CB is a pretty relaxed fish. It swims around a lot, in and out of rocks pecking at algae. I have several softys and some LPS and it has not bothered any of them. I am quite happy. |

Personally i doubt even the damsel would give you any trouble w/the angel. The angles are a bit bigger and they can sometimes be aggressive.
If this is for your 46 there should be no problems.

I have a coral beauty in my tank and he doesn't bother anything. He occasionally nips at my Feather Duster's but that's it. I really like mine.

I have a CB Angel and a flame tail damsel. Everyone gets along great. But you never know with damsels. You should be ok!

Some information says reef safe, some says not. What is one to believe?

my CB was great for about the first 8 months. then he started nipping at the corals. now some days thats all he seems to do. he has gotten better since i changed the diet to frozen foods only however. but he still nips at the corals once in a while. other than that hes great. i have had him for almost 2 years now.

Scott is correct, Actually ANY fish will be 50:50. They are all different, just like us.
However in my years of keeping CB's in a reef tank, I had my first one in a reef in '90, I've never had a problem with them bothering anything in my tank. But then again, I'm also of the belief that if you keep your fish happy, healthy and well fed, they will have no reason to bother anything in your tank and will be stress free and less suspectable to problems of any kind. This is true for any fish you wish to keep. I say go for it and keep your fish fed and you should have no problems and enjoy many years ahead with him.

The only time I have any aggression issues with my CB seems to be when I cut off the circulation pumps for any length of time. The CB is very timid and amazingly gets along with the Yellow tail Damsel, however I have a Flame angel the same size as the CB and it will chase the CB until I turn the Circ pumps back on. It's almost as if he's bored. I turn the pumps back on and the harmony of the tank is restored.
