Imp Angel colors deteriorating? help
This is my juev. Imperator angel. I've had it just over a month. It looks like its getting some blots on its sides, hard to describe. Kinda like a faint brownish color, or maybe just fading. But I don't think its normal. Couldn't get pics on here, so here is my site with 3 pics on it. Any help appreciated.

hey bro it looks like a case of some bad water quality here or stress factors,nutrition,etc...how long has your tank been running...

Hi,
Perhaps there is another fish picking on him. Mine looked like that when my Passer angel (aggrssive SOB) went after him. I bought a mirror at the local Bed bath and beyond, and it did the trick. Paul |

Tank has been running since August of last year. Feed him Nori soaked in Selcon about 3 times a week. Also frozen shrimp/pellets/flake soaked in vitachem. Eats like a pig. I've never seen any fish come near him. I have 5 lyretail anthias, 2 clown, and a Niger Trigger. Everyone else looks fine.
Is it any kind of disease? He isnt skinny |

My Imperator looked like this when stressed by my Regal Tang exerting his dominance. His fins look a wee bit ragged as well so I'd definitely say he's being stressed by something. Whether its another fish or water quality I'm not sure. Food doesn't seem to be a problem.
Might be worth while doing a full range of water tests and/or watching the tank carefully for aggression. Could be its happening at night and something is not letting him sleep.

I'm not sure how old it is or what size from those pics, but the Juvi colors start to lose there intensity as the adult coloration starts to show up. During this time your Imperator will not be the most attractive fish to see. In the end it is well worth it though as they are beautiful as adults.
Not many people get to see one go through the change, I had one a long time ago that I was able to witbess going through the change, it was cool to waych it progress into an adult. |
