Remora bubbles
Got tiny bubble issues with my remora HO. I am using a Maxijet 1600 as the pump, and do not wanna use a bubble trap because they are ugly. Could I use a sponge in the column to catch the bubbles without forcing the water out of the foam cup?
I hate tiny bubbles.

Yes you can or you can also use fiberglass screening (like they use on screen doors/windows, not the metal type). Both would work well.

When it clogs, you'll have water on the floor, not through the cup, but around it... I thought remoras used MJ 1200's...

Skimmer Installation
Place the skimmer on the back of the aquarium. Your skimmer includes either a Rio 800 or Maxi Jet 1200 water pump. If you are using the Rio 800, you’ll need to use the “discharge adapter” accessory that came with the pump to connect the Rio 800 to the short piece of ½” I.D. clear tubing on the skimmer. Be sure and keep the “air stopper” inserted into the small hole on the discharge adapter. The Remora is NOT designed to be used with the venturi accessory. If you are using the Maxi Jet 1200, you can push the output nozzle of the pump directly into the short piece of ½” I.D. clear tubing to attach the pump to the skimmer. No other fittings are needed, and do not use the venturi attachment that comes with the pump. We recommend that you use a pair of pliers to tighten down the two black hose clamps to ensure a tight connection. Next, adjust the black leveling screws at the bottom of the skimmer to make sure that the Remora is not tilted or in danger of falling off the back of the aquarium. Once you’ve made sure that the water pump is completely submerged and the skimmer is level, you can plug it in to begin operation. Do you have just the remora or remora pro? Did you change the ph out that it came with arbitrarily? If it's just the remora, I think you're pushing too much through, but I remember a bubble issue when I was running my Remora. HTH |

You can just stick a sponge filter in the output. It just installed one last week and it had micro bubs also. It only lasted 2 days.
You might also what to check this out. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...=aqua+c+remora |

Yes, it's true you can stick a sponge there, but keep it clean... nothing like thinking to yourself ,'what is that trickleing sound?' LOL
I think you have too powerful of a power head on that remora... if it's not pro version... |
