Crab questions

I jus brought a Emerald Crab from my LFS, popped him in and hes been taking it easy, the little clowns got abit curious and had a lil look, abit too close for the crabs liking and he took a lil poke at one of them.

They do get along dont they?! he wont hurt my little clowns?! also do they hide alot or roam around the tank? will upload pics soon!!

Dont worry about it. The crab is too slow to be able to catch any of your fish. They are sometimes known to eat corals. I personally have never had that happen but i wont add them to my tanks anymore.

I have two in mine with no problems. I have 2 clowns also and they never get bothered by either of them. I also have a coral banded shrimp and they don't bothr eachother at all. They really just keep to themselves and do their own thing. I like them.

this is a common thread. i had an emerald crab to get rid of some bubble algae. it got rid of it and when it got bigger (the crab)decided he liked my zoanthid and i suspect xenia.i got rid of him! some say no some say yes. Dan9 hasn't had any problems with his. someone submitted an article that they had found by a marine biologist that said when they are juveniles they will eat algae but when they mature into adults they require more protein ie zoanthids. good luck.
