pink bar gobie questions.. shrimp gobie questions..

Well, I found my first new addition for my 90 gal today. trying to get my small nice fish started so i can work my way up to my angel and tang.

So i found this beautiful aurora gobie. a shrimp gobie. whitch is great since i have a pistol shrimp hitchhiker!!

Im a lil worried about him. Ive never had a gobie and dont know much about them.. but

he doesent move barely at all. He was litterally sliding around on my qt bottom, and I felt bad so agianst my better judgemwnt i gave him a lil pad of sand.

Do shrimp gobies swim much? he moved/swam a bit when i fed him (and he ate everything not picky in the least)

If this is normal, thats fine with me, I just feel like hes sick or nervous or somthing.
(no signs of ick, eatting, breathing normally. lfs had it for 3 weeks)

so reassure me this is normal??

I also read gobies shouldent be in qt long because of the whole sand issue. true?? should i try just two weeks and if no ick or internal parasites come then add him to the reef?

heres a few shotty pics. cam kept going out of focus from the bubbles

I love the pink bar gobies. Give it a few PVC fittings or short lengths of PVC pipe to hang out in and it will be much happier. They can be goofy...swim around and jaw at other fish like crazy...other times they just sit.

I can't comment on that goby specifically, but as a general note, don't be paranoid if a goby literally "hangs out" for hours. Both of my gobies have a favorite rock/hole that they sit in, and literally just chill waiting for something to happen (food, need to clean someone, etc). They're quite content just relaxing.

The funny thing is, wait until you see them excited. I've never seen ANYTHING shoot through the water like a goby. When my two gobies in my 180 started fighting, as soon as the one on the far left saw the one on the far right, it would clear all 6 foot faster than my eye could follow. Not bad for a little 1.5" squirt in a tank with 7000 GPH flowing...

norm.. i have a plastic cave in there that ive used for all my fish in qt. and they all run for the cave as soon as there in the tank and use it for shelter... but this guy has never left the back left corner.

I put the sand in there and it dident budge. the lights went off and its still in that corner. youd swear it was fake if it dident move when i fed it.

rokle... heh.. im afriad of that i doubt my eggcrate will stop a flying gobie. just hope it hangs with the pistol shrimp when they meet. (still dont even know what kind of pistol.. cant wait to see it actually lol)

so how long on qt'ing a shrimp gobie? 6 weeks ok?

I have to admit, I'm bad when it comes to QTing certain fish that are resilient to ICH. I normally put mine in for two weeks, but yes I think a standard 4-6 weeks would be ideal.
