KH Level

Anyone know what it takes to lower a high Kh?

time.

Let it come down on its own. Any other way (as in direct intervention) is a=potentially asking for trouble.

It will drop with time.

Paul.

Mine came down from an "overdose" of about 13 down to normal in about 3 days.

It depends on what your Calcium is. If your Calcium is also high, then time is a good answer. If your Calcium is low, either the addition of Calcium to put it in its proper level will decrease the Alk slightly and then time will lower it. Or quite simply water changes will put things in order.

My calcium is 420 and Kh is 150. I have a calcium reactor and it stays constant at the 420 level. I am using the nutrafin test and it takes 15 drops to reach it's level. I had not tested the Kh in awhile so I dont know what it has been. However a few months ago it was at 120. I believe the ideal range would be 90-120.

That sounds like it is ppm. You might have to convert that to dKH. If it is in ppm, then the Alkalinity might actually be low. I'll have to look at it later though.
