Dead Coral.....Help for crab inside

I was wondering I have dying stony coral. ( it's bleaching out) The little crab that is inside the stony can I just set him free in the tank??? I want to throw the coral out.

Lets see I have 5 powerheads, I skimmer, I return pump, 1 heater, all pluged in to 120V..... Now would be a good time to stick my hand in the tank.

Well you dont really have much of a choice. It sounds like you might have a symbiotic acro crab. If thats they case they will just climb into another SPS and be happy

Oh ya forgot to say I don't have another SPS for him to go in.

I think they need the coral for protection in the wild. Not sure if you have any predators in your tank, but it may help the crab to leave the coral in for it. Just to use as a home.

Dont they need it for food though too? I always saw mine pruning the polyps and eating them.

I hate to say it but without the coral (alive) the crab will die. You can do one of two things, get another coral or give him to some one that has one.
