Question about T-5 lighting fixtures.
My Tank is 30" wide and I wanted to get one of the T-5 lighting fixtures that I see online. However the lengths on these are 24", then jumps to 36", etc.
Does anyone know where I can get a T-5 fixture thats 30", or am I going to have to live with 3" of the light hanging over the sides of my tank on each side? |

you can get a 24 inch system and just mount it about 4-6" above the tank so you have the whole tank lit up somewhat evenly. I have a 30" tank also and i am planning on getting a 4x24 watt tek light or the 5x24 watt from Aquactinics.
A few things to note about the fixtures. Aquactinics- The light has not been released yet i think they are planning on sometime this spring but no definite date. They are also going to make mounting legs for a 30" tank. Tek Light- The mounting legs for this fixture will not work with a 30" tank. From what research i have done they will only extend the fixture 1 or so inches on both sides so it will still be too short. You would have to make up some mounting legs or hang the light from something like the ceiling. (some one please correct me if i am wrong but this is what i have found about mounting on a 30 inch tank.) Hope this helps Vince |

or you could just get 4x24w t5's and offset every other one so that it covers the whole tank. You'll more than likely have to do a retro to do so, and in doing a retro, you'll normally need a canopy.
