Bak-Pak 2R+ Pump Replacement?
I've got a Bak-Pak 2r+ that I use to skim on my 10g reef system. The pump on it has recently become loud and I want to replace it. The stock pump is a Rio 600.
What pump would you recommend to replace the Rio? I'd like to try something different and am wondering if anyone's done this or tried different pumps. There's got to be something out there that's more efficient, maybe heats the water less...

Some people have used MJ-1200s, but I've stuck with the Rio. I think I'm going to try a mesh-impeller mod, though.

I upgraded the RIO to a MJ1200 with venturi kit . . . WOW what an improvement. It skimmed MUCH better, and the venturi stayed cleaner longer.
It was however louder than the RIO. |
