AquaC help

Just bought a used AquaC skimmer from another reefer and was wondering if anyone knew which model I have. I've already gone online and searched but found nothing that matches.

My model is just like the EV models but with 2 inputs for pumps. The exit gate valve is also on the opposite side of the inputs towards the bottom of the skimmer — unlike on the side like the newer models.

Can I use one pump tee'd off to run both input valves? And how long do the microbubbles last when breaking in? Is this still an effective skimmer? The seller will let me return the skimmer if I'm not happy with it.

Any input would be great.

Thanks

they used to have 2 inputs on the older models. YOu can tee it off if you like, but if your pump is on the small side, you might be better off using one of the inlets for better velocity. The micro bubbles can be directed to the surface of the water to help them dissipate faster before they enter your return. I used different combo's of pvc directed in different directions before I found one that worked. Also, don't be discouraged if you don't see alot of skimmate in the beginning. My ev 400 took quite a while to start skimming. the aqua c's also tend to skim on the drier side. I hear of people skimming over a cup a day, but when you look at the skimmate it is watery and light in color. My ev didn't produce as much as some of the other skimmers, but it was dark brown and super concentrated. Good luck, and these skimmers like alot of flow----Marc

Thanks for the feedback Marc. I asked the seller and he says it is an older 300 model. I got it up and running last night using changed water from the tank and it's already starting to foam in the tower using only one inlet — will 2 be much more effective?. Will these skimmers work ok sitting high? I'm actually thinking about running the outlet to the filter sock in the sump.

Thanks again.
Mike
