This months ORCA meeting will be Saturday, February 24th.
Hello Everyone,
This months ORCA meeting will be Saturday, February 24th. Russell and Rebecca Whitney will be hosting the meeting. Directions are on the ORCA website. Doors open at 6:00p.m. and the meeting will start promptly at 7:30p.m. Address: 9907 Dean Acre Drive Orlando, FL 32825 http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...te=fl&zipcode= If you have any problems with directions you can email Russell at russell@oceansblend.com or call Russell at (407)748-6741 This month’s presentation will be a “show and tell” about Russell’s main display aquarium and his unique high flow and circulation design. Shortly following the presentation will be our traditional frag event. Guests are always welcome. Bring your friends and family. Frag Auction: Anyone bringing frags to the monthly auction please be sure to bring your frags in “store quality” bags. Poor quality baggies (sandwich baggies) leak and make it very difficult to run the frag auction efficiently. Label your frags before coming to the meeting. Write clearly using a Sharpie marker. Marcye at Sea in the City http://www.seainthecity.net/ has graciously offered to give ORCA members as many bags as they need. Simply stop by Sea in the City and pick them up. If you have known parasites like Flatworms (planaria) http://www.thesea.org/reef_aquarium/..._flatworms.php or Red bug(Tegastes acroporanus) http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=45859 in your aquarium please refrain from bringing any frags to the auction. Please respect your fellow hobbyists and only contribute healthy pest free animals. Membership dues are due for 2007. If you have not done so already, please go to the ORCA Web site and download and complete a membership application. I am including the links to where the applications are located Our membership application can be found at http://www.o-r-c-a.com/images/Application.pdf If you do not have a pdf reader, you can download one here: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/foxitre...oxitreader.zip Member applications will also be available at our regular scheduled meeting. Please see Melissa (Secretary), Pam (Treasurer) or me to get one. Anything you can do to help minimize the time it takes to get your application completed would be greatly appreciated. So, download the application, fill it out (legibly) and come prepared with a check or cash only. Also know that our local sponsors are looking to see your “current” ORCA Membership card in order to get your ORCA discounts. The sooner we get your application and fee, the sooner we will get your 2007 membership card sent out. ORCA is actively seeking members who would be willing to open their homes for a future meeting. Sign up sheets will be available at the meeting also. Please consider hosting a meeting in 2007. This is a great club with great members who would really enjoy seeing your aquarium and observing how you make your hobby successful. It’s also a great way to receive good strong feedback on your Reef and Aquarium system. The frequency and quality of our meetings ultimately resides with each and every ORCA member. Let’s all work together and make 2007 the best year ORCA has seen yet! Thanks everyone and see you Saturday, Matt Kantz Orlando Reef Caretakers Association ORCA President Email Saltcreep@cfl.rr.com Web www.o-r-c-a.com "ORCA is a non-profit organization of aquarists dedicated to the care and conservation of marine life kept in reef aquariums. Oooh...I don't know if I can make this one...it's so far away. That 4 mile drive is going to be a killer
Thank you for finally having a meeting that isn't Kissimmee or further. I might be able to get home before midnight I would love to host a meeting, but since it is hard to fit more than 3 people in my house and more than 10 people outside, I feel I should wait until I have more room.

I'll be bringing some pink star polyps frag or two:
I'll try to frag a couple ricordea or at least some of my purple discosoma(some with blue streaks) Would anyone be interested in rock anemone colony/plating monti combo rock? If not, I'll keep it...I think they are so cool. Under the right lights, the plating monti has a nice green tint...the rock anems turn a neon green color under halides...under my lights both of them are mainly brown, just like my purple digi, strawberry digi, etc.

Too bad...we could have worked it out to where you came over before the meeting, Marcye. You got priorities, though...I understand completely.

I get to come!! I'm so excited, as it's the first weekend I don't have to work! Woo-hoo! (We've been members for over a year, but stupid work schedule interferes a lot!)
My sister and her significant other who are visiting will also get drug along (he's an SPS guy; she loves the fish). I'm looking for zoas or leathers - I might be able to bring a big purple/green yuma, but that's about all I have right now. Danielle |

I'm really hoping to make it to the meeting to meet everyone new! I'd also like to see Russell's new high flow system and compare it to the high flow tanks Tom's designed. We're still looking for our ultimate BIG tank for the house and I want to do it without powerheads or other distractions. Always love to see other setups as there is always something new to learn. That's part of the fun of this hobby...always evolving!
