same thing. you want around 10 times turnover in your sump so around 550gph depending on your skimmer. the rest you want using either powerheads or a closed loop around another 10x or more. 550gph - more
mine is a 46 gal. tank and 30 gal. sump fuge i am running 500gph through my sump. and with a seio 1100 (1100gph) and a modded mj1200 (2000gph) in the main tank for circulation. and i keep all types of corals very happy |

i have 24X on my 29 gallon. That does not include the protein skimmer because I don't think you are supposed to include it. But if you do mine is 36x.

some may disagree but i only do about 3x turnover and my skimmer works better. if you can match them your better off.
on smaller aquariums this might not work. ive heard you want it just enough to make sure you break the top of the water to make sure you dont get slime build up. in fact thier was a thread about this. i put a gate valve on my return pump and when i let it go down to 2x over my skimmer even skimmed better. i personally believe that if you can used tunzes for display circulation and less on the sump you get better results.
