Live Rock Turning All White

hey just wondering if it is normal for the live rock to turn white. i got these from my lfs, some of them had nice green and purple coral lines but now they are turning white!! something wrong here??

It's normal to have some die off, and corals can turn white when they die. Check your water parameters, especially ammonia/nitrite/nitrate and salinity. Post them here when you do. Also let us know about your tank (age, occupants etc.) in your sig. That can help a lot.

Do you mean green and purple coralline algaes? In my experience it usually takes 8-12 weeks for the coralline to start growing when the rocks are placed into a new tank, even if the rocks are "cured". When a rock is taken out of water and exposed to air, even if only for a few seconds it still damages that life, and there will be a certain amount of die off just from that alone. Your system will have to age a bit before the coralline will start to grow, in the meantime some of it will bleach out (die) to white. Just be patient, it'll come back.

I bought some solomon island live rock and i bought it and it was black, it quickly turned white and after some time is black again. not sure exactly why but if i flip the rock over the bottom is still white, the side exposed to lighitng is black. not sure if this helps

tank is 3 weeks old i have brown algae pet store sold me silicate remover and sad that will work but i also have green looking hair algae.what is it ? do i need something for it.
