lion wont eat anything

My dwarf lion will not eat anything. Tried feeder, guppies and ghost shrimp. He stocked the guppie all over but would not eat him. Why is this. Is the guppie to big. Was thinking of putting the lion in a 5g tank for feeding time. Would this cause more stress then anything. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I think it would cause more stress than it would be helpful. Have you tryed soaking any frozen food in garlic?

How long have you had him? Has he eaten before? Are the other fish happy and eating. Are any fish missing-- I had a lion that ate farily big fish and couldn't eat for days.

Fish can go a week or so without food without too much worry. He's just probably to insecure with his new environment to eat. Just be patient... once he feels secure he'll be eating like a pig. The hard part is getting them to eat frozen foods... so try feeding him frozen food on a stick as they did at the LFS.

I would have ask the LFS to feed the lion before purchasing the lion making sure the fish was eating.
I'm sure the lion is stress also from the move from the LFS to your tank! Give the lion sometime and it might start eating!

Give it time. Don't feed it for a week or two. Then feed it. Worked for my rhom piranha.

Lionfish are similar to eels - they do not usually feed like other fish. Once or twice a week they'll eat a large meal then sit on it...

All good advice. As a rule you should request that your LFS feed the fish before you but it. If they tell you it just ate, I would come back later. If they refuse to feed - go elsewhere.
Lions are natural predators for shrimp. He might be too full at the moment!? Give him time and DON'T sterss him out.

My dwarf fuzzy occasionally plays Ghandi and goes on starvation strikes. Just keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't get too skinny. My general rule of thumb is that if it's been 2 weeks then you can start to worry, but anything under that and he may just be being a brat. Mine usually only gets a meal (albeit all he can eat) about once a week, so a day or 2 without eating is no big deal.
