a threaded bulkhead? i assume it would fit one of the sizes of bulheads

Yes, you can get a 3/4" bulkhead and addapt it to garden hose thread rather easily. Use a 3/4" ball valve in between.

home depot sells a fitting in the sprinkler depot that changes plumbing threaded 3/4 to a garden hose 3/4
