How do you make a home made hood?
I have a Fluval Duo Deep aquarium that I converted to SW (http://www.justbuyonline.co.uk/fluva...200-o-249.html)
Everything has been going great expect I’d really like to get some more bulbs in there. The hood only has room for 2, which is 1 marine white and 1 actinic at the moment. I’m aiming for a tank like Archie Luz’s amazing TotM (http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/20...totm/index.php) and although in theory my lights are sufficient I’m worried the corals might not be able to get such rich colours without a couple more bulbs. I’ve tried emailing various companies that make custom tanks, but they only seem to do the glass work rather than the lids. I’ve seen those luminaries about and thought about settling with one of them but I can’t stand how the light spills out into the room… plus I worry about things jumping out. So, my question is… How do you make a home made hood? I’m not very ‘handy’ when it comes to DIY, but if I could get some instructions I might be able to get a handyman to make me one. Thanks! |

Do a Google search for "DIY Canopy" and you will find a number of plans and sites.
