Fish decision!

I need suggestions on which goby to get. Here are my choices....
Scissortail Goby
Shrimpgoby - Banded
Shrimpgoby - Barbershop
Shrimpgoby - Orange Spotted
Shrimpgoby - Pink & Blue
Shrimpgoby - Randalli
Shrimpgoby - Tangaroa
Shrimpgoby - Yellow Watchman

I have a 55 gal. Currently in it is 10 snails, 10 blueleg crabs, percula clowns, sabae anemone, 1 damsel, 1 cleaner shrimp. 65lbs LR, 55lbs LS. Here is the most recent pic.

And i want to add another fish of some kind maybe a angel.

Any suggestions?

I would suggest to rearrange your rockwork. The straight up wall looks just like that, a wall of round boulders upon one another.

Think smaller rubble piles of numerous crevices and overhangs; you have plenty of rock in the tank to accomplish this.

I would attempt one area no higher than mid point of the tank coming from the rear corner and extending toward the center front. Next pile would be at a 45 degree angle in the left corner. Be sure to leave space between the rock and the glass for ease of cleaning and good circulation.

Google some dive pics for inspiration and allow the artistic side in you and your family create a natural home for your fishy friends.

As to an angel, a nice Coral Beauty would highlight what you already have in the tank.

Good Luck

zma21.........
Do you have experience with the firsfish goby? I read they are jumpers and will jump right out the tank.

EdKruzel...
Thanks for the advice on the rock. I kinda like it like it is but i will definetly do as you say and google some pics to see if i can find something different.

I'm very new at this and i've already changed it like 5 times and i'm sure it will change again. Thanks for the suggestion.

Your rock looks fine. Why critique something that is purely personal tastes? That's like you asking about a fish and I say,

"I don't like the color of your stand."

A flame angel is a beautiful fish and would do well in a 55. I do not have much experience with the fish you mentioned.

kmf507.....

Your flame angel is beautiful in your pics!
I was thinking of a coral beauty or a flame angel. I like the brightness of the Flame.

I am new and if my rock is wrong or whatever i dont mind changing it. I have looked at alot of peoples pics on here and alot look like mine thats where i got the idea. But anyways thanks!

I think your rock looks great! There's no such thing as having your rock set up "wrong."

You've got a beautiful tank.

mccarty30,
I apologize, I wasn't trying to offend, only make suggestions. There are actually "wrong" ways to set up your rock. Some stack it too high and leave it unstable, which can easily cause rock to tumble and kill livestock or crack the aquarium. Others pack it too tight and push it firmly against the glass causing dead spots and detritus traps.

Darkened caves/crevices and overhangs look a bit more natural than a basic wall and provide better sanctuary for the fish kept. This in return will ease any stress and provide healthier and longer lived specimens.

When it comes to aesthetic appearances, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the only "wrong" approach is the one you yourself aren't pleased with.

As to the fish, I still recommend a Coral Beauty so as to mix up a little different color than your clowns. (But the Flame is my favorite angel).

I'm getting a yellow watchman. Or maybe a wheeler's watchman. The shrimp gobies are cool fish.

Are you sure your rock is stable? You should probably be careful with things that dig.

Yeah i'm thinking that to. Gonna make a few changes but just not sure what i'm going to do yet. Will do so before goby is added. I think the yellow watchman is the neatest i saw one at the LFS today. They are full of personality!

Yes sorry another vote for a dwarf angel - bi-colour, cherub, flame or coral beauty take your pick.

How about a flame hawkfish ? Not too sure on it myself dunno how it is with shrimp and i heard they can harass gobies from time to time you don't want to rule out the many interesting species of them in the future but it has alot of character.

I just wanted a pair, and the pistol shrimp they should share the burrow with. Little relationship thing they have.
I ordered mine from Marine Depot Live, cause they were the only one had the gobies, shrimp, and some Barred Dartfish in stock at same time. And my few LFS`s dont ever get em(cept Mr. Petman gets one now and then)

On the dwarf angels; I`m prob gonna get a Rusty, or maybe a Black, seems everyove gets a Flame or Coral Beauty(just to be different)

Tank has been up and going for 6 1/2 weeks. Levels are great LFS said my levels are better than theirs. Hopefully things will continue this way. All of my rock was from previously setup tank. So it really helped. No Fuge.
Will look into flame hawkfish thanks.

Be careful of the wrasses with small gobies. I had a filamented fairy wrasse kill 3 before I got him out.
