Need Help with Lighting a 75 Gallon!!!!
Ok so I've started out purchaseing a Dual 250 Watt Ballast brand new for about $120. I plan on purchasing a canopy for the 75 gallon tank and placeing reflectors and two 250 Watt 14K bulbs. In addition to the halides I want to purchase an Ice cap 440W VHO system that will allow a little more growing power and blue color to my tank. I was wondering if this would be suffecient for rappid coral growth and superior color. Let me know what you guys think.

Well I think if people can grow sps under The new Solaris LED lighting system, you can grow them fast under that setup. Looks good.

Its a good idea to have a refrence sample for alk test kits. 1.1350 grams of baking soda in 1gallon of distilled water=10dkh. Check your alkalinity test kit! Algae is Mother Natures phosphate remover Current Tank Info: 220 galon mixed reef. |

Im wondering if I should go with 10K or 14K for my metal halides. I want a blue look to my tank, im wondering if the 440w Ice Cap Vho's would bring out that blue color if i went with the 10K for the Metal halides. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The vho's will give a little hue, but mostly will provide 'pop' to your corals appearance...if you want blue use a 14k.

Yea I think ill use the the 14K. For right now I have a 20 gallon reef tank that has some soft corals and what I'm trying to do is to grow those and frag them and trade the frags to try to complete the rest of my tank. My goal is to trade in enough frags with a Local Fish Store to by some SPS and LPS corals. I am using Sea Chem Reef Complete and Reef Calcium to boost coral growth, anything else besides that and the lighting system that will cause substantial coral growth?
