a few misc. questions

When doing the Recirculating mod is it best to drain straight from your overflow into your skimmer or to use a small PH in your sump and pump into your skimmer? .. i just drilled my tank and was going to put the bulkheads in, isn't there supposed to be like a gasket inbetween the bulkhead and the glass so it don't leak? where would i get them from like an auto part store or home depot? what kinda gasket should it be? how many heaters and what watts would you recomend total with sump will be about 175gallons.. i have 2 1" drain lines would a mag 12 be good enough for a return pump considering head loss or should i go for something a bit bigger? any info would be great! thanks

I would use a small powerhead to feed the skimmer to keep it simple

Bulkheads should come with a gasket typically

As for return it will be determined by how you plan to plumb the returns, how high, how many 90 and 45 elbows, ect...

shawn i got my bulkheads from you guys and i thought they were supposed to come with a gasket but i didn't get 1 with either of the bulkheads i got.. maybe you guys can send em to me b/c its over a hr. drive each way..

There was no rubber washer on either one behind the nut?.... Shoot Dan an email at saltycritter@centurytel.net or PM on here and he will get it taken care of, I am not at the shop till at least Thursday.

the gaskets go on the flange side of the bulkhead.

unscrew the nut. put gasket on the flange, install bulkhead thru hole, and then tighten nut. (hand tight)

The rubber washer (gasket) looks like part of the flange a lot of the time. Try running your finger over the flange part and peeling the rubber back from the flange just to be sure there isn't one already there. They are both black and about the same diameter. The flange is not really very thick and the rubber washer is about 3/16" thick.

You could probably get away with using a uniseal. It works for the Sedra pump on the skimmer.

Call a local place that sells and services ponds. I have one by me that sells bulkheads and gaskets.

I usually get mine from SC. However, in a pinch, Tractor Supply sells them as well.
