protein skimmer
Can a new protein skimmer make the tank run hot? I installed my new Euro-Reef RS-80 last night. This morning I turned on the lights at 9 am just like i have done for over a month now. I leave them on until about 6 pm. The hottest it had ever gotten was 82 degrees.
Now, I come home from work today at 4pm. and the temp is 86!!!! The Xenia was closed up, along with the GSP (both the brown and green ones). The richordia was doing great!! The only thing different today was the protein skimmer running too. Any suggestions? |

Sure, pumps add heat. I'm surprised that it heated it up that much though. It it working properly?

RS-80 has a sedra 3500 running at 28W. So basically it's like having a 28W heater in the tank.
