can i make a homemade sump???
i just upgraded from a 55g to a 75g-with the 55g i had enough room in the back for a hang on skimmer and a filter.
with my available space the only way to fit the 75g was to leave no room in the back for anything to hang can use like a 10g tank underneath for a sump-id use a power head with tubing attached in the tank to draw out-and use the same type power head with tubing attached in the homemade sump to go back into the tank-there i can hang my skimmer and filter-would it work????? |

Yes and no!!! Yes you can use a 10 or better yet a 20-30 gallon tank. Cruise the DIY section for some great sump ideas.
And no, you need to pick up or make a overflow and get a decent return pump. Running a pump inside the tank to drain and a pump to return will do nothing but cause you to file a claim with your home owners insurance Again check the DIY forums if you want to build an overflow, otherwise pick up a used U tube type overflow... Not a c channel type overflow. Good Luck!
