overflow question
I am setting up a new 46gal Bowfront to move my 29 gal into, and I really want a sump to get my skimmer out of my tank.
Is there a recommended size of overflow that I can buy or make for this size tank? I made one from some plans I found, but it just looks huge in the tank. It's 7.5" wide and 5" long and 3" deep. Is this just something i'm going to have to live with?? |

No on the recommended size. You just have to make sure that your overflow's flow rate can keep up with whatever flow your return pump puts out. Can always throttle the return pump back a bit. If you're not going to drill the tank, the overflow is your only option. My 75 isn't "reef ready," but the overflow isn't so bad once you get used to it. Maybe aquascape around it if possible with rocks.
