What ballast to run 2x54w T5's besides workhorse 5?
Need to pick up a ballast on my way home tonight, my hardware store carries a ton of ballast but I'm not sure they have the workhorse brand. What else could I use to run 2x54w T5's?

For one 54-watt T5HO lamp, you can use a Workhorse 3 ballast(http://www.naturallighting.com/web/s...on=show_detail).
For 2x54-watt lamps, go to the ballast & wiring selection tool at: http://www.fulham.com/. I believe that the Workhorse 5 ballast is recommended. |

Most Home Depots won't have a ballast that will run a T5HO only the NO ones.

I never said Home Depot... I have a local hardware store that stocks a ton of ballast, I'm sure they have this or the triad? ballasts.

Sorry must have miss read. I think the triads are the better ones with EOL protection and made more for the T5 than the workhorse ballasts

f24t5ho It will usually tell you on the ballast how many it will fire as well. I know universal, advance, which are the two main ones for sure make ballasts that will fire them. You can do a google search with the above ansi code to get the exact model numbers for the ballasts if needed but the lighting specialty store is already going to know this if you provide the ansi code. Best to look for programmed start ballast with end of life protection as apposed to a instant start ballast.

I have a Workhorse 5 that I bought a long time ago to run 2 55W PC bulbs. I recently took them down and was thinking to buy a T5 setup for actinic supplement. So, what you guys are saying here is that I can also use the same ballast to run T5 bulbs?? --Sorry for hijacking this thread.

you should actually look for f54t5ho, f24 is for the 24w bulb.

Workhorse ballasts will run T5's but they are not a T5 ballast. You are better off with Universal or advanced.
