OK what is it treated with . Should never treat or add unless its needed. Tap water can cause many problems and red slime is one of them. Tap can have high phosphate levels and is not reef safe. Also to low of flow can be bad. I would do a major water change with good RO/DI water. I use a purified water from local place. And discontinue you "treated tap" . You may see people who say i always use tap never have problems . If they dont then cudos to them but with all my research and reading posts the best always use quality water. Your reef tank is very sensitive to changes from its original place in the ocean and should be well cared for for long life.

Upload your video to photobucket website. Then attach the link here. You probably have cyanobacteria.

i actually didnt use direct tap water. i used water out of my qt that had been in there for like aweek or two. and then replaced the water in my qt with treated tap water(start right) is my choice chlorine remover. im just into salt. tap water has been fine for my fresh water tank.

This is far from frsh water. Treating the water with anything not recomended. And its the phosphate tap hae that can cause red slime . Corals and fish from the ocean need proper conditions to thrive. I researched for weeks before my setup and never useing tap came up alot. You can have many problems along the way to a mature tank ( 1 year ). And elimanating any problems upfront can make the journey a lot easier and less stressfull. Did you see the algea in the link i sent you ?
