close to a Ca snow storm?
Posted this before in the general forum and was suggested to bring over here...
Read that if alk and Ca both go high, can reach Ca saturation and it will precip out. Was keeping my tank fairly constant with a Ca reactor at Ca 350, alk 10KH but figured try for a higher Calcium. Supplemented Ca and increased the flow and bubble rate to 60ml/min and 40 bubbles/min and now getting getting CA 400, alk 14KH. Wondering what the alk and Ca limits are as obviously don't want to crash the tank with a snow storm? Further what's an upper alk limit? |

I would'nt worry about your cal. That's fine, but your alk is to high..A good range for alk is 9 or 10 IMO...I keep my calcium around 440 to 460.....Don't add anything else until alk comes down..........

This link will give you the parameters of natural seawater. I would try to keep the parameters as close to nsw as possible.

I would try to keep alkalinity at or below 11 dKH, as the article suggests. Low magnesium can increase precipitation, so that might be worth checking at some point.
