Really gross video of ... coral poop?
When my tank "woke up" today, there was a huge mucus net filled with ... something ... strung across an old piece of coral rock. A few minutes later, it looked like this:
Pretty much looks like coral excrement to me (tons of it). But, I pulled some away from the acan that was eating it (That was not easy, BTW. They have good grips!) and stuck it under the microscope. Lo and behold, it was moving. A lot. I warn you, it's pretty gross. Movie 1 (60x, 2mb) Movie 2 (200x, 900kb) But, I've now come back to it. This is from 8.5 HOURS later. Movie 3 (60x, 268kb) Any clue what's going on? Are the digestive enzymes keeping it in motion? Is that even what it is? Thanks!

Mesenterial filaments (coral guts). Pretty interesting how they were in constant motion, breaking food down. Especially 10 or so hours after separation from the polyp.
