I got my typhoon 3 rodi unit today , MAN , im CONFUSED

Ive have sat down and skimmed the directions and my mind is totally blown ,

I thought this thing was going to be a hook up one end when you want to use it and that was all there was to it .

It looks like they want you to install it for a permanent use

so I dont know if Im going to be able to keep one , cause its mom anbd dads house and I dont know if he wants to go to cutting plumbing ect

maybe I just need to sit down again and clear my head

ok I see now , with my sink adapter you can connect the filter wihtout having to do anythign with the existing pipes

correct me if I am wrong

Im going to try and hook this up tonight

I would start it up and leave it , but im afraid the tank im putting it in , 55 gallons, will overflow , if I dont stay around

You need a place for the waste water to go before you start to run it. To fill a 55 gallon tank, it'll take many many hours.

yeah , I cant put it below the sing, because, the waste water has nowhere to go , so I am just going to have to sit it on the counter with one cord in my 55 gallon tank and the other cord in the sink

Here is one question , , I am gong to have this hookoed up to the faucet adapter in the kitchen ,

does it hurt the unit for mom to trun the valve if she wants to get a glass of water then to turn the valve again and let the unit continue

If it is going to be in the kitchen the drain for the dishwasher is probably under the sink or atleast is accesable. Put the waste water line in that pipe and tape it in with some duct tape.

Turn the water off to the house, change the valve that supplies the cold water with a dual valve so you can hook it up permanently without drilling or puncturing lines.

Ask your dad for help, its simple plumbing, a good excuse to go to Home depot, and play with tools.

Ok , so mom cant use the sink at all if Im using my unit

its not ok for her to shut off the valve on the inlet while she wants water then turn it back on ?

I need this answered cause I have to go back to my apartment later

also , after Im through getting the amount of water I need,

i plan on unhooking the inlet cord from teh sink , do I drain the water somehow from teh filter, or just close all the valves and store it away under the bathroom sink?

well , i just have teh waste water going into the sink ,

I have it going now

ive done the flush and now , I have closed the fast flush and the di vavle and opened the pure water out valve , the pure water out valve has a steady strem of water going into my container where as the drain line has even more of a steady stream of water coming out of it

I hope I am doing everything correctly , I dont want to harm the unit , I have read the directions and followed them, Im just worrying I guess

Im just curious as to whenever I am done with the unit what I need to do after I want to quit getting water from it , Like I said its not permanent , I would like to be able to close everything off unhook it and store it under my bathroom sink ,

do you have to drain what water is left in the unit when you get ready to quit using it

Sounds like you are doing it right, waste flows should be about 4 times the good flow. Leave water in the unit when you are done, do not let the membrane or DI dry out or they are shot.

i answered this for you already. i said no, i doesn't hurt to turn the water off for a few and then switch it back to on as long as hot water never makes it to the unit. i do this all the time with same unit you have and same adapter.

A better option for you might be to hook it in to the cold water in the laundry room. Home Depot (or any hardware store) has neat spring loaded quick disconnects so you can remove it and store it. This is how I did mine. I just used a "Y" adapter with separate shutoff valves for each leg.

ok guys thank for all the help

I read in the directions that the di catridge in alot of peoples filters only stays around 1 inch deep , hopefully this is correct

like you guys said , nothing needs to dry out.

im really glad that I finally bought one ,
