My tank water is really clear and clean looking but my sand has this stuff now growing pretty quick on it , I posted a thread awhile ago mentioning it and I have since bought a rodi unit and will be doign a 50 percent (120 gallon) water change on sunday .
I hope this fixes alot of it any other tips towards this cyano algae? its the first time ive had it in any of my tank is the 5 years ive kept saltwater

Make sure you have lots of flow over the sand. You can use red slime remover to initially get rid of it, but it will come back unless you are able to starve out the elements that make it grow.

I just had my fight with algae(hair, cyano, diatoms). Started out real small and one day it just took over. I tried everything, from water changes, to phosphate remover, increase circulation, and adding refugium. It took me about 2 months to get rid of all the algae that I was going through. Pain in the butt. But now my tank is nice and clean.

I was planning on doing a 100 gallon water change over the nest 2.5 days,
is this too much? I dont want to stress my fish , but I want and need to do a big water change as I have not done any big water changes in my 240 , other than a 10 gallion here and there

If you changing the water over a period of days, your fish should have no problem. You could actually do it within an hour and still be fine provided that the new water is close to the tank water.

oh ok , I was just worred about doing too big of a quantity
I am really excited that I now can make my own rodi water, no more running to wal mart paying 4.50 for 10 gallons of water.
