trouble with coralline algae on front glass

I had let the algae grow on my front glass for awhile to the point where it looked like a picture frame. I got tired of the look and scraped it off a week ago, but now thw algae is reforming quicker than I have ever seen it. I scrape it off almost daily now and it reforms exactly where it was scraped from. What are you guys and girls using to take it off? It doesn't reform in a pink color but the white remnants that are the start of the encrusting. Do you all just use scrapers? or scrub pads, any tricks of the hobby anyone wants to divuldge. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have the same problem and just try to stay on top of it with a scraper (metal blade).

Sea Urchins will eat coralline algae. And if it is growing that fast on the glass you PROBABLY don't have to worry about it eating any off of your rocks.

It's probably growing quicker because when you scrape it off some of that reattaches. It should subside if you keep it up.

I disagree. Coralline doesn't grow THAT fast and the urchin isn't going to follow instructions when it's told to only eat the coralline of the front of the tank.

Coralline algae doesn't grow that fast... at least none I've ever seen. Hair algae on the other hand...

If you want to get rid of it completely, I'd try using a razor blade to scrape it completely off. It will still grow back, but at least it won't grow exactly from the spots where you may have left off tid bits from the regular magnet scraper.

That's a desirable "problem" for most people.
