Anybody dose kalk w/gravity fed ATO?

I am having a small problem with mine, I have a 2g bucket hooked up to a Coralife float valve, I mix 1tsp kalk to 1g water, and it replaces all of my evaporation. The problem is where it drips into the sump it is starting to deposit on my float valve and is creating a small mess. Im afraid its going to plug my line or block the float valve at the worst possible time. Is there a way to stop the kalk from not mixing. I already moved my intake about 1/2 inch away from the spot it mixes, and it still doesn't mix correctly. I don't really want to put a power head in there just to have it mix right, but if I have to...

Does anybody else use kalk through a gravity fed valve, and how do you stop this from happening?

Or am i going to just have to clean it once a week.

Yup. I have to swap out the valve every two weeks and soak the one I removed in vinegar overnight. Just takes a couple minutes, the hard part is remembering to do it.

Its not an answer to your question, but I dose my Kalk in my top-off water with a topoff switch. I supersaturate the kalk using vinegar, then mixing the kalk about about 2 to 3 times the normal amount. I think off the top of my head the formula is two cups of vinegar per 5 gallons, and 6tsp of kalk per gallon.

I just soak mine in vinegar to get rid of the build up.

Ok so Im not the only one who has a problem with the float valve getting coated with kalk. No real easy fix huh, darn, I think ill dose kalk through my aqua lifter and AC jr. and just have top off water through the float valve.

Any other suggestions?
