Can I use an agriculture spray pump as a booster pump for my RO/DI?
Looking at the spec's I can't see any reason I can't use this diaphram pump as a booster pump for my RO/DI system. What do you think?

Please post back if you get one and how it performs when you do. Thanks

Not really. The pump is rated at 60psi which is about optimum for most RO/DI units (if I researched correctly). The 1gpm is a little more then I need. My RO/DI is rated at 75 gpd which translates into about .05 gpm. So I'll be getting about 3/4 more gpm then I need.
The spec's for this pump seem to match up well w/ my RO/DI. The only thing that makes me wonder is why I haven't heard of people doing this before. If it will work then why pay $90-$200 for a booster pump when you can get this one for $49? I know I will have to get a 12v adapter but that will be about $10 (or less if I find one laying around).

The only concern I'd see is if that pump is able to run for long periods of time and how many amps it's pulling at 12V....

Website But they are really big in the RV industry. So check around on that price. I've seen them on eBay for less than $10 used. Guy |

Be careful with any positive displacement type pump. If it says 1 gpm, then it WILL pump 1gpm. You will need to find something to do with the other .5gpm. Maybe a pressure relief valve plumbed back to the suction?
I agree with RandalBs concerns as well- duty cycle, temp rating, and power draw. |
