t5 lighting

does anyone use t5 lighting under their canopy? I am looking at a t5 fixture that will fit under my canopy, but I don't know if it would get too hot. the unit has fans for cooling. Does anyone us a fixture under their canopy and how hot does it get?

Some use fixtures and some retrofit's. And you can add fans to the sides or back of your canopy for cooling if needed.

I have T5 retros under my canopy along with a halide retro. I have 2 fans in my canopy and my tank stays around 82.

Thanks! I thought it would be ok since the back of the canopy is open but just wanted an opinion from someone else.

The T5s will get hot inside of the canopy so you really need to have some sort of fan system to circulate the air. Just having the back of the canopy open will not asuffice IMHO.

It won't do. My canopy has an open back but when the fans are off it'll get to 84--even with pc's. You don't need alot of air moving but at least some will really bring it down to the 80 range, that is what mine stays at---79 at night, 80 in the day.
