Is it safe to shim an aquarium stand on an uneven floor?
Well i am about to get back up and running. I will have some acquired canopys, stands, and possibly some extra tanks for sale. I have just gotten a 75 RR. It will have a 20-25 gallon sump. I just moved to a place i cant find a perfectly even spot i want to put it. Is it safe to shim the bottom of my tanks stand? If so, what is the best thing to shim it with? I hope to be back up and running in the next couple of weeks.

Shimming shouldn't be a problem assuming your stand is well built. The floor under my 80g bow is off 3/4" over 4'. Scary huh?
I used different thichnesses of plywood spaced about 16" apart. Hasn't moved at all in 4+years. My stand is a little unique though, it was my 1st tank and I built the stand so you could drive a truck over it. But as long as you place your shims under the bearing areas of the tank you should be fine. |

Its a all-glass brand pine stand, if that helps at all.

you definatly need to shim it. nothing would be worse than having the glass blow out because of a little wobble.
