Need opinions on Aqua-C EV series Skimmers
I was considering getting an Aqua-C EV120 skimmer for my 90G mixed reef tank. Does anyone have any experience or opinions on this skimmer? Is it worth getting? or should I look elsewhere?

i was just reading this thread today.
http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...readid=1081212 Seems that some have problems with this skimmer. And in that price range there seems to be better choices. |

I have this skimmer and struglled with it for months. I then upgraded the pump to a MAG 7 instead of MAG 5 which came with the skimmer and I'm really happy with the performance. Will need a lot of cleaning ( every 3 days) to keep skimming well.

I have the 120 model on my 90gal and have it running outside the sump because I don't have room. I have it paired with the Pondmaster? 560 pump, and it pulls out plenty of stuff from the tank.
I did the same research you are doing and frankly it scared me a little on these skimmer as many reported that they had zero luck getting it to skim. It took a few days to dial in, but it skims well for me.

I have a 240 with a mag 18 on my 90 reef and it took a long time for me to get it dialed in but I was pretty happy where I had it. Then I got a 1" injector from AquaC and now it's a skimming monster. I am really happy with it now where as before I was just satisfied.

You need to clean the injector pretty often, espcially if you have silly little snails that fit perfectly in the slots. Other than that you have to clean the collection cup and neck every three or four days, and that is it.
Things I noted where that my EV150 like a little more flow than recommended, and it was very sensitive to water level (in my configuration in the sump). Other than that it was a champ and pulled out all kinds of junk. Mine was a tad bit on the noisey side as well.
