Quiet One 3000- give me the good, bad and ugly!
I am looking for imput on the quiet one pumps- particularly the 3000. I want one for a return pump, but would like to hear some opinions on it before buying. i have not seen much for reviews online. Your help is appreciated.

My QO 4000 runs silent and has no noticeable impact on temperature. The Sedra 3500 on my skimmer is much louder than the QO, and I can barely hear that.
I have a T on the output, each line from there has a valve and a union: one line goes directly to the tank, the other runs to our basement's drain for easy water changes. I have never had a problem with restarting the pump. HTH, Marty |

I have a QO3K as my return on my 46G bow. Its been great, plenty of flow, quiet as advertized. I had a checkvalve and a bunch of other useless fittings in the loop which I recently took out. Straight from the sump under the tank to the stand over the top with 3/4" tubing almost overpowers my single u-tube overflow w/ 1" drain. All at like 38 watts, so consider me a fan!

I would get either an Oceanrunner or Eheim as a return pump.
I, as well as many other on here have had some problems with the QO3000 restarting after you unplug it or power goes out. Once you get it going, it works great though w/out any problems. lol I wouldn't trust my return pump to a QO 3000.... |
