Question css 125 with Octpus 2000 NW.....

Ok, here's my question....

I order an Octopus 200 NW for my Coralife SS 125 and it arrive today. When I put all together I found that the pump is too powerfull for my skimmer (it overflow even with the knob full open).

Can I put a small ball valve between the pump and the skimmer to reduce flow? What do you think? Sugestion welcome!!

you could, but it may not be a good thing to throttle back that pump. It may shorten its light or cause it to get hotter than usual. The only other thing i could think of is to get a longer piece of hose and try to get a foot or so of head loss to make the pump flow less. But this could be an eye sore. : )
