Upgraded lighting to T5 have ?s

Just upgraded from a 48inch 260W orbit PC to a 48 inch Current Nova Extreme 48" 8X54 T5. I bought this unit from the classifieds here for $225. The guy i got it from said the actinics would blink every so often. After hooking it up I have saw them blink once.

How do i fix this, i am confident DIYer and i figure it might be a ballast but thought you all could help.

Also what bulbs would you advise me to use.

Thanks
Alvin

The only thing i can think of is like said check connections, he said that the actinics would blink, maybe switch that bulb to the other socket and see if it still blinks, maybe the bulb itself or the sockets

I have a 6 x 54 watt tek fixture, currently using 3 - 14,000k bulbs, 2 "purple" bulbs and 1 actinic bulb. I did have a 6700k instead of the "blue" actinic, but didn't care for the look. I now have a very nice blue hue and great coral coloration.
