How often do you run your carbon?

I have an emporer 400 HOB with 2 carbon filters in it and 2 sitting in my sump. They are always in and I change them about every 6 weeks. Is this ok? thanks in advance.

I run Black Diamond carbon 24/7. I change it every 30 days.

Does it do anything just sitting in the sump? How do you have yours?

I use Boyd's Chemi-pure 24/7. It just sits in my sump, I use it in conjuntion with Boyd's Chemi-mat and it seems to have helped some of my algae issue. JME.

I use Kent Marine Reef Carbon. It is stronger than average activated carbon, but from what I understand, it really doesn't matter how long it sits in your tank.

Any activated carbon is only good for about two weeks, so even if you leave it in there for 3 months, you only reaped its benefits for the first two weeks. I change mine once a month.

What kind of filtration are you running? If your refugium is set up as your only filter you would probably want to put a bag of it where the water comes into the refugium so that you get the most water flow through the carbon. Just use a fine mesh bag.

I have 2 CPR Bak-Pak's in the fuge and a HOB Emperor 400 in the tank with 2 carbon filters in it, and 2 carbon filters in the fuge. 1 by the return pump, and 1 between the first and second chambers.
