Chiller

How does one go about picking out a chiller my temp flux from 79 to 83 and its only spring time. I live in SoCal so the temp goes up pretty high in summer and running the AC all day is out of the question with the price of electricity out here.

I have about 110gallons of water in the tank and 500w of MH lighting. In the water i haveone 3500 sedra and one 9.5 mag drive. The closed loop has a super squirt and a OR 6500.

i found this and thought the 1/8 would do but i really dont want to undershoot and be stuck with a chiller, its a lot of money.

also would a chiller bought from ebay or someone else not be wise to do?

I bought mine from ebay and it was fine for 2 years. It is being serviced at the moment. I like the JBJ brand they are very quiet. The link you provided seem to be very nice units but a little pricey.
There is a guy selling a 1/10 hp JBJ unit for 350 shipped on ebay. As long as your room temp is not too excessive that should work out fine.
My neighbor runs that unit on his 120 with a 40 gallon sump and it does just fine. He also has 2 MH and VHO in his canopy, he also has AC, do you?

Like you, I am concern about controlling my tank temperture. I am running my A/C all day now, but I can't afford to do this in the summer. I want to increase the A/c to 83 during the day and 75 at night. Will a chiller help to lower the cost of my electric bill?
