Rabbitfish and tang question
Ok Guys, you know best. I have a Foxface Rabbitfish, a wonderful fish got tons of Personality. I was thinking of putting a Powder Blue Tang in the tank with him but I was wondering if they'll get along. Foxface is about 3" long and has been in the tank for about 5 months. I checked the compatability chart at live aquaria and it says caution with the two fish. So what do you guys think?
Thanks, mattyb327 |

is the PBT going into the 55 gallon? if so no. PBT's are a highly highly active fish and require more room then the 55 gallon would give him.

I thought that too, but have been reassured by LFS that there is room, keep in mind this is not a large show fish. The one I'm interested in is only about 11/2'"-2" long. I'm assuming we'll be moving to a 90 by 4th of July(at least thats the goal).

The 90 is too small as well. Additionally, powder blue tangs have a very poor record in captivity, and their best chance for survival is a large mature reef. A FOWLR is not a very good choice of habitat.
Remember, the LFS is interested in making a sale. We are only looking out for you.

I had my yellow and powder blue tangs (in our 125) about six months before we broke down our 55 gallon which had our Foxface. We put the FF in the 125 and the powder blue was unbelievably relentless. I really thought he was going to kill the foxface. After about two days, it turns into this:
[IMG][/IMG] I has been like this for the last almost two years. The three of them are inseperable. Where one goes, the others go. You should see them when I give them a nori clip. They're like the three stooges. DId I get lucky? Maybe. This is just my experience though.
