ASM G-3 Came with no instructions

My ASM G-3 Just came in and it came with a sedra 7000 when it was supposed to come with a sedra 5000 so I don't really know if thats a problem. And it doesn't have any kind of instructions. It has a hole on the side of the main chamber and I understand the sedra pump is supposed to feed water into there. But what do I do if I want to plumb my overflow straight into the skimmer. Should I not use the pump and plumb the PVC into that hole. And whats with the long gray tube on the side that sticks up with foam around it. What does that do. This is my first in sump skimmer and I'm scared.

its probabally not a good idea to drain your overflow right into the skimmer, the tube is the riser tube, the water level will be in there to a certain height which basically corresponds to the height of water in the neck of the skimmer, I do not own this skimmer but I have had several ER's that are about the same, you can use it to adjust the bubble line in the neck by sliding it up and down most proabably

I agree there should be some instructions included.

You need the pump to create the bubbles for the skimmer. Not sure whether the stronger pump would do too much or not?

The upright tube with the foam is the exit water. You adjust the height of the tube to adjust the height of the bubbles inside chamber for skimming the gunk.

That`s about all I can help ya with.

ASMs changed their design. They no longer include an elbow that goes from the pump to the skimmer chamber. The pump now actually connects to the chamber directly.

It is unfortunate for some people who don't have a large sump because now you must keep your water level higher.

I had the same deal here. I got the G2 which is supposed to come with the 3500 but the box said 5000. I was like cool free upgrade then I looked at the model number on the pump and it said 3500. I got mine two days ago and it came with the elbow. Maybe old stock from vendor. Good Luck!
