Moving an Anemone?

I have a large Anemone that has decided to relocate to the top of my tank near a powerhead, what is the best way to move him? it seems that he is really attached almost tearing him off.. any suggestions?

Is he attached to a rock? Move the rock with him on it.

I had a similar problem. Some said move the anemone to an area of low light or point a power head right at it to annoy it, so it would move on its own. Others said, and I tried to no avail, try holding an ice cube on it to get it to release and move.

Ultimately I pryed it out with a surgical instrument. I wouldn't advise that. It worked, but it risked injury to the anemone. I was frustrated and regreted doing it.

Move powerheads around to different directions to make a different water flow. He may move again because the flow will be different then and he may not like it.

This method has worked for me 3 or 4 times. Hold ice to the foot, 3 or 4 pieces in succession. Then take a credit card and very gently work one edge of the foot up. Maybe 1/4". Then work the tip of your finger under that flap and slowly work the foot off the rock. This will take 5-10 minutes to accomplish, and won't hurt the nem.

Hope it works for you.
