Blue Jaw Trigger females look like Sargassum Triggers
Blue Jaw Trigger females look like Sargassum Triggers. How can they be told apart from Sargassum Triggers?

Sargassium triggers have a deep red tail. They are also called red tailed triggerfish.

actually blue jaw females if stressed can have the yellow brownish tail outline, the sargasum tail is red outlined. Next the body color of a sargassum is more grey, whereas the bluejaws tend to be bluish grey. If you've had a chance to see them side-by-side they look different.
If your blue jaw female is happy, she will have a nice yellow outline

and your point is....they are visibly different fish, the argassum has black or dark spots between each scale, the bluejaws have whitish, the tail on the female blue jaw has a brownish color to it (again stressed), and th esargassum has a clear red coloration.
Again if you see these fish next to each other at the LFS, you'd see there are clear differences I'm not saying if youve never seen a sargassum trigger before you would not correctly ID it from a blue jaw female or even a fully stressed male, but once youhave seen these fish- you won't make the mistake of ID'ing them

Sargassum triggers also have 3 distinct lines on their cheeks.

The sargassium trigger also will seem to be brighter looking. While most bluejaw females seem to be a dull gray color.

As I said, I have seen them together. I own both, and they are in the same tank. I see what you mean about the brown. But what does the Sargassum female look like?

OK. No doubt. My little trigger is a female bluejaw. I finally found a good PIC of a female. below are PICs of a sargassum trigger, and a bluejaw female.
I have a Sargassum, and a pair of Bluethroats.
