Octopus Pump for intake

I was wondering what feed pump I should use for my octopus 250. I have the oct 65 watt pump a little modded getting decent air and am currently using a maxi jet 1200 for the feed. I was thinking about getting the octopus 38 watt pump, "modding it and adding a venturi", and using it as the feed instead of the maxi jet.

It runs about 18 watts hotter and has nearly double the flow at 528 "octo" vs 1200 @ 265. I figure the # is reduced via a small 90.

2nd question- would the flow decrease if I added the octo feed pump with the bubbles and at around what percent. I was thinking I could add about 10sch on the air and loose about 200 making the flow through the skimmer around 350 GPH and add about 20% in skimmer efficacy. Any input is greatly appreciated.
