Sixline Wrasse
Has any one ever experience a sixline wrasse creating a bubble or cocoon type structure. I have notice since I have had my wrasse, which is approximately 1 week, that it seems to create a web like bubble or cocoon that it sleeps in. Have anyone ever heard anything like this happening before? I have seen this on 3 different occasions. The fish appears to be fine because it is eating well and does not seem to be struggling while breathing.
I know they wrasse change gender and color as they grow into adults but I can not find any type of explanation on this web like bubble. |

yes, both of mine used to do this. They both did this when i first added them for about a couple weeks but then they seemed to stop doing that after a while. Its used as a sort of protection thing when they're sleeping to keep other fish/inverts away from them. Nothing bad at all, its completely normal. Looks way freaky when you see them sleeping in it tho, cuz they look like they're dead lol.

Again...
Yes, completely normal. In fact I killed my first sixline because I thought he was caught in some nasty web of film. I've heard tell they do it to conceal their scent from predators. Beats me if it's true, but it's a cool idea.
