48" 250w hqi/t5/moonlight fixture

well i just upgraded to a 60" tank and it came with a 48" light. it really dosent give that good of coverage plus my tank hit 86 degrees today so im going to get some 60" t5s.

its black, has 18 moonlights, 4 t5 bulbs, 2 10k 250w hqi halide bulbs all used about a month, and 2 brand new hqi bulbs also http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Produc...&N=2004+113352

what hieght was your fixture from the water? i have a 48" pendant and its about 10" above the water. i get great coverage and i use fans for temp control.....

current usa outer orbit pro series

i just have it sitting on the legs it came with so its like 5 maybe 6" off the water

are you using it over a open tank or do you have the glass tops on, i am interested in it but have concerns over heat issues, so the unit is only a month old?

yep only a month old. i have it inside a canopy.... so i think that was my whole overheating problem

if you are not running fans and its in your canopy that will be your only heat problem. if you get fans it will be fine..

or try just removing the lid from your canopy. that will work wonders
